The association with Starfish Mobile is expected to further strengthen Comviva’s Ring Back Tone (RBT) content portfolio in Africa.
As part of the collaboration, Comviva and Starfish Mobile will assist mobile operators to enhance the subscriber base on their networks and to enhance sustainable usage of their services. Starfish Mobile works with a number of local and international companies to source ring back tones that can cater to the diverse tastes of consumers.
“Music is one application that has proved a major success with subscribers globally, with subscribers embracing various music-based services such as Ring Back Tones,” ,” said Manoranjan Mohapatra, CEO, Comviva, in a statement. “Comviva’s RBT is constantly evolving to meet the growing needs of subscribers across markets as well as support flexible business models that address operator requirements in the African market.”
“The combination of partnering with Starfish Mobile, a leading African content aggregator, together with our proven expertise in deploying and managing music services for operators across multiple growth markets, will further drive the success of ring back tone services in Africa,” Mohapatra added.
With Comviva’s RBT portfolio, operators can offer personalized mobile music applications. Mobile users can reflect their personality using RBT applications. Currently, the solution is used by more than 13 million subscribers on a single operator network and deployed by over 20 operators.

At Starfish Mobile we have developed a content strategy that allows mobile operators to drive the quantity of users on their networks and to achieve sustainable usage of their latest high tech products,” said Per Ostberg, chairman, Starfish Mobile International.
Africa is one of the target markets for Comviva. Recently, Comviva announced its association with Inmobia, a provider of technology platforms and content for mobile operators, to provide RBT Content Portfolio in Africa for Comviva’s RBT platform.
