Binbit Acquires Atinco South Africa Mobile Solutions

Binbit, a mobile phone technology and content provider company in Mexico, has announced that they have bought the company “Atinco South Africa Mobile Solutions Ltd.”
Binbit (News - Alert) offers solutions for the “mobile” world in a multi-sector approach, for all types of interests. The company has vast experience in the areas of telephony and development of products and services, with more than 500 references worldwide.
Atinco has been present in South Africa and other African countries since 2005 and offers mobile entertainment services in the region.
The deal was reportedly finalized on October 1, 2008, and after several months of negotiation between the two companies, Binbit has decided to initiate and settle down its presence in the market in this country.
According to company sources, Binbit will offer their mobile entertainment services for the cellular phone with customized content for the African market.
With this, consumers in this region will be able to enjoy services such as ringtones, games, wallpapers, animations, mp3 sounds, subscription text services, interactive chat, and more.
This acquisition marks the beginning of a new expansion phase for Binbit in English speaking countries and the company said it any is all set to make a mark in new markets such as the U.K. and Australia.
According to a recent report, Africa has been experiencing a surge of interest from multinational telecom operators who are searching for new opportunities. The report, titled, “African Mobile Phone Subscribers and Operators' Performance, 3Q 2008,” says that Africa has attracted a number of large-scale multinational telecom operators to invest due to factors.
